Chateau de Boulogne-sur-Mer (En)
Yesterday Saturday, we saw the Boulogne Chateau, a castle and now the Boulogne museum. The castle was built in the 13th century by the Count of Boulogne and the son of Philip II of France. The castle is built in the eastern corner of the medieval walls surrounding the Haute Ville (literally, high town – the part of Boulogne on the hill). So inside the walls is the old city which is pretty cool.
First, we visited the castle, a part of the castle is surrounded by water and you enter through an arch gate. Inside, there is a square surrounded by the proper castle and many narrow ways to go out to the walls.
After visit the castle we went to see the old town which has stone houses and a street full of bars and restaurants. There is passageways and if you go inside you discover that is a restaurant with tables outside. There is also a square with a church where is the crypta and the town hall, and a palace and its gardens.
Then we went to see the modern city outside the walls where it was an avenue pretty bizarre with Egyptian things, and a Viking boat and some tropical palms and an obelisk as you will see in the pictures.
Today we went to the beach to eat another bowl of mussels and fish and chips. I thought in swimm in the rock pool but it was not hot enough for me! But Asha has a ball playing in the huge beach.
“Au revoir” France and tomorrow we will cross the eurotunnel and Hello England! So next charter England, and first stop Brighton where we will see friends and family.
