England – Brighton – Marina (En)

Yesterday Monday we crossed to England through the Eurotunnel. If you never have done it is pretty full-on. First, if you have a pet you have to go to the pet reception where they check the pet’s passport and chip. Then you go to a place which looks like a toll on a highway where you take a boarding pass, then you go to a waiting area until your boarding number is called. After that, you pass the French security check and then the English. In the English security check they looked inside and outside of our motorhome, even under the bed and sofas and inside all the cupboards, and they asked Ben thousand of questions. After the security checks you drive to the train and go inside with your vehicle, and in 30 minutes you are in England! The good thing is that when you arrived you just drive off, with no more security checks.

From the tunnel, we drove to Brighton, our first stop in the UK, to Brighton camping, the most expensive camping we have stayed up to now, 30 pounds! The camping is located next to Brighton Park and near to the marina. 10 minutes to the marina and 20 minutes to Brighton centre and the pier. The facilities are pretty good, with hot and cold water in the taps, toilet paper and seats on the toilets.

In the evening we went to see the marina where there is a big supermarket. The marina entrance is through the supermarket parking so not really nice, but then you go inside through an arch and you are in a square and from there you pass to the proper marina which is like a little Venice, with houses and pubs around the water and boats. Outside this is the proper harbour and sea. The little Venice is really nice.

There was a very cool pub with tables looking at the little Venice so we went there to have a drink. It was a very long time since we were in a proper English pub!

Then we went shopping at the supermarket and back to the motorhome for dinner, Ben cooked chicken and mushroom pie, delicious! And the next Brighton chapter in the following post!
