Greece – Palouki (En)
Palouki is a small port, known for its scenic beauty. The area is characterised by its traditional Greek architecture and local culture. It’s one of the least touristy areas in Greece. When we arrived, we realised we had already been there three years before. But we discovered a part of the beach we hadn’t visited.
Where to stay
We stayed at Camping Palouki (37.753946, 21.306293, lat, long) next to the beach and the port. It cost us ā¬23.50 per day without electricity, which we thought was quite expensive. There was another campsite right next door, but the inspections were terrible, so we decided to stay here. The facilities are very good, with an easy and convenient water filling and emptying area. The bathrooms are clean and stocked with toilet paper, and the showers are great, with good pressure and hot water. There’s a dishwashing area with hot water and a laundry room, which we didn’t use. The pitches are spacious, with shade, bins, and electricity. The beach is magnificent, with fine sand and beach bars with sun loungers. The campsite also has a lovely tavern with a terrace overlooking the sea, and a small shop at reception that sells very good bread. We were told that the frogs would keep us awake, but we didn’t have any problems, and it was quite fun to hear them.
What to see
We went to see the port, which is very rustic and typical, but charming.
Another day, we went for a walk on the beach to the opposite side of the port, where there was a really cute beach bar with sun loungers. I went for a swim, but Ben still thought the water was too cold. He’s such a wimp!
Our next stop is Filiatra, known for its monuments and its scale model of the Eiffel Tower. We had a fantastic time at a birthday party where we danced non-stop. You’ll be able to see all of this in the next blog post.
