France – Saint-Caradec (En)

Saint-Caradec is located in the Côtes-d’Armor department in Brittany. Known for its picturesque landscapes and traditional Breton architecture, it offers a glimpse into French rural life. The area is characterised by its rolling hills and agricultural land.

Where to stay

We stayed in the town’s RV park (48.191101, -2.8443 latitude, longitude), which is completely free and located next to a beautiful lake with incredible views. It’s a 5-minute walk from the centre. The area features trash cans, water refills, a barbecue and picnic area with restrooms and showers, as well as a sports area. Highly recommended for spending at least a full day.

What to see

We walked to the town centre, which is a five-minute walk away. Along the way, there are paintings by a local painter scattered throughout the area, including inside the church. Of particular note is the Church of St. Caradec, rebuilt in 1644 with a bell tower built in 1700. The church is a centrepiece of the town, reflecting the local architectural style and serving as a cultural landmark.

We then toured the Hilvern Canal, a scenic canal originally built for water management, now popular for leisurely walks, cycling, and nature viewing along its green banks.

The next day, we went to Jullouville, a picturesque coastal town located on the Normandy coast, which you can see in the next blog!
