Spain – Catalonia – Sidamon (En)

Sidamon is a municipality in Catalonia, Spain. It belongs to the province of Lleida and is located in the Plana de Urgel region. Sidamon is presented as a stop on the road. Extended around the N-II highway between Barcelona and Lleida, the town grew where a castle once stood.

Where to stay

We stayed in the free caravan area of the town (41.628005, 0.83665 lat, long). It was the best free area we have been to. It has everything except electricity. Good filling and emptying of grey and black water, drinking water, a tennis table, paddle tennis court, a place to play petanque, zip line and children’s park, and even an area for dogs to pee. It’s truly excellent for a super small town that has nothing. We enjoy playing ping pong. If you need to do a stop on the way, we recommend to stop here!

What to see

Sidamon

Sidamon doesn’t have much to see, we chose the place to stop along the way and didn’t regret it because the area is great. We also recommend going to the local bakery which has some great croissants and loaves of bread. The only thing worth highlighting is the 18th-century Parish Church of Sant Bartomeu, which occupies the site of the old 12th-century castle. To the south of the municipal area, the Iberian and Roman archaeological remains of El Tossal de les Tenalles are preserved.

After this break on the way, we went to Manresa, the capital of the Bages region, in the province of Barcelona, a city with a rich medieval past and an excellent historical-artistic heritage, which you can see in the next blog!
