Castelnaud Castle – bye Dordogne (En)

On our last day in the Dordogne area we went on a boat trip from La Roque-Gageac, classified by the French as their third favourite village, to the bridge at Castelnaud overlooked by the 12th-century castle. We went on the motorbike to the village and took the boat at 1.30 pm. This part of the river offers a unique insight into the history of Perigord and its castles and is also a way to discover its fauna and flora.

When we arrived back at the camping we met Victor, Jane, John and Susi to have some drinks and say bye-bye, hoping to see them in someplace soon again.

Last Wednesday just before we left Dordogne, we woke up with balloons on the top of our motorhome. We left Dordogne towards Loire Valley, to a town called Saumur, 5 hours driving. On the way, we stopped in a really nice rest area. The rest areas are called “aire” in French and they have bathrooms, tables and some even restaurants and you can stop and sleep there free!

And today Thursday we are in the Loire Valley in a town called Saumur and it is amazing! Saumur is totally different to the small stone villages of the Dordogne. This town is very palatial, with a castle and impressive buildings! You can see it in the next post!
