Roque-Gageac & Domme (En)
On Sunday we went to see the top of the town La Roque-Gageac as people told us it is beautiful and less tourist than the bottom part where the river is. So we went walking with Asha. To arrive at the top you go for a very steep road up to the mountain and to the top of the town. On the top, the views are amazing with narrow cute streets and fairy tale houses. But live there… going up and down all the time… As you will see in the pictures there are many stairs which do not look very safe and some houses have very cute towers.
Yesterday Monday we went on the motorbike to a town called Domme. To arrive you have to pass the town of Roque-Gageac and then follow a very steep road up to the mountain. You only can entry to the town by walking, on a bicycle or motorbike or a car. No motorhomes and vans are allowed because to enter you have to pass under an arch which is not very high as you will see in the pictures. We passed with the motorbike and parked in the square of the town. From the square, you go through narrow streets until you arrive at the perimeter of the town which is surrounded by a wall. The views are stunning and the houses and shops are super cute!
When we come back to the camping I went to the swimming pool with John and Susi as it was 28 degrees, and at night when we were having drinks we heard a very loud noise like thunder and when we looked it was a balloon trying to go up and pass the mountain!
Today is our last day here so we are going to travel the river in a boat! You can see this in the next post.
And tomorrow we are going to the Loire Valley, 5 hours driving from here.
