Year three was our longest yet: from March 2024 all the way to January 2025. It took in 99 posts, two new countries, and more time travelling with friends than ever before.
Inland Spain and up the Rhône
We started close to home in Casares, then went inland through Córdoba province (Lucena, Cabra, Montilla), the hanging houses of Cuenca and Teruel, and up into Catalonia. In France we followed the Rhône north (Aigues-Mortes, Beaucaire, Tarascon, Tournon) and on to Beaune and Besançon.

Alsace, the Black Forest and Bavaria, with friends
In Mulhouse our friends Hanna and Stuart joined us, and together we explored Eguisheim and Colmar. In Freiburg we met up with Ralf and Gaby and their dogs, and the six of us, plus three dogs, travelled through the Black Forest and around Lake Constance. In Meersburg a very friendly donkey came to say hello, and Cristina named him Stuart. In Füssen we celebrated the real Stuart's birthday and saw Neuschwanstein, the Mad King's castle.

Prague, the Rhine, Jürgen and Kami
Then came the Czech Republic: Český Krumlov and Prague. Back in Germany we saw Dresden and the water games in Kassel, then followed the Rhine through Andernach and Remagen to Düsseldorf and Duisburg, where our friends Jürgen and Kami showed us around. A short hop through Holland and Belgium ended in Ypres, then we crossed to England.
Cornwall, Devon and Wales
Ben celebrated his birthday in Henley-on-Thames with pies by the river. Then we went south-west: Tintagel, Port Isaac (Doc Martin's village), Padstow and Looe in Cornwall, and Dartmoor, where a foal fell in love with Asha and followed her everywhere.
In Wales, Asha got cuddles from all the old ladies on the bus in Aberystwyth, and in Barmouth the sign said £5 a day, the attendant said £25, and no amount of arguing changed his mind. Snowdonia, Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and the Cotswolds took us into the winter.
Home, when France got too cold
We crossed back to France in January, but it was freezing, so we headed straight for the Spanish sun: Amposta, Castellón, Murcia, Lorca, and home.
Countries: Spain, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK (England and Wales)
