2025 didn't go to plan. We meant to go back to Greece, but Ben's Spanish residency renewal kept us in Marbella much longer than we expected. Then, in June, just before we were due to leave, we lost Asha.
Asha
Asha had been with us on every trip: on every beach, every bus and every ferry, and at every border. She was scared of firecrackers and boats, made friends wherever we went, and once made an Albanian border guard change his mind. The posts from that June are dedicated to her, and she will get a post of her own.

A late start: the Atlantic coast of France
We finally set off in July, through Aranda de Duero and into France. With Greece too far for the time we had left, we went west instead: the Vendée, Port-Louis, Concarneau and the Brittany coast, then Normandy at Granville and Ouistreham. In Rouen our friends Armelle and Laurent let us stay in their house, and in Alençon we met up with Mariana and Cor again, on their anniversary. We also made a quick trip over to England to see family.
On the way south we finally stopped at Biarritz, which we had always skipped. We loved it.

Spain, León and a mechanic called Kiko
Back in Spain we took the inland route: León, where a motorhome workshop fixed our fridge, then Astorga, Zamora, Salamanca, Plasencia and Mérida. For weeks our brakes had been making a suspicious noise, and every mechanic said they were fine. In Monesterio, Kiko took one wheel off and told us the brake pad on the left was completely gone, and that we could have been killed. He spent eleven hours replacing pads and discs, and the shop assistant down the road clearly had a soft spot for him.

Back where it all began
We ended the year at Camping Tropical, our very first campsite back in 2021, with friends who winter there too: Jürgen and Kami, and Helen and Rob. Then came Christmas in Marbella with family. Greece would have to wait for next year, so this time we decided to leave early.
