France – Mosnac (En)
We ended up in Mosnac by chance, as we weren’t able to stay in Saintes as we had planned. Mosnac is a small town next to a river where people go fishing. It has a beautiful church, a town hall and a post office. We couldn’t find any shops nearby, but they brought us bread to the campsite. A room at the campsite was used for ballet classes for children.
Where to stay
We stayed at Camping Municipal Les Bords De La Seugne (45.505636, -0.523231 lat, long) right next to the church and town hall. It’s a lovely little campsite, very green and right by the river. Activities include fishing and pétanque. It costs €14.44 a day, all inclusive. The pitches are spacious and shaded, although some are not level. The facilities are rustic but very clean. The showers have good pressure and hot water. The toilets have seats but no toilet paper. There is drinking water at the pitches and several places to empty grey water, as well as a place to empty black water. There is a dishwashing area with hot water. When we arrived, there was no one at reception, and a very friendly Frenchman staying at the campsite told us to settle wherever we wanted and then go pay. At reception, you can order bread for the next morning, which we did. I recommend it for a one or two-day break, very good value for money.
What to see
We walked around the entire town in 5 minutes. The most beautiful thing to see is the interior of the Church of Saint-Saturnin, which is very pretty because it is painted in colours that give it a Byzantine style.
The weather forecast predicted a lot of heat for the next few days, so we decided to head to Les Landes and went to Biscarrosse-Plage, a lively tourist destination named after its long beach, which you can see in the next blog!
