Italy – Piedmont – Ovada (En)
Ovada is located in the northwestern part of Italy, in the Piedmont region, and an hour’s drive from Genoa. It has stunning views as it lies at the foot of the hills in the northern part of the Apennines Mountains and is famous for its wine called Dolcetto di Ovada Superiore.
We stayed in the motorhome area (44.640301, 8.64998 lats, long) of the town, free with services for emptying and filling grey and black water even when we did not use it and only 5 minutes walking to the town centre. We passed a quiet night with other two motorhomes and a trailer converted into a house, as I think they were living there, quite cute. Thanks to the town to provide a free and safe area to stay!
We started our visit in the old town which is a maze of squares, painted houses and narrow streets connected to the city gates, the church square and the municipality institutions. The first thing we saw was the Church of St Mary of Grace, with its interior made of stone so it is worth visiting it.
Then we arrived at Church Square. The church has two massive towers with impressive bells.
Next, we saw the Maineri Rossi Palace which has beautiful gardens.
Afterwards, we saw the Town Hall and the Church of the Conception finishing in a square with a nice park next to it with statues. The whole city is full of benches to sit on that say Ovada, with the O in the shape of a heart.
We finished our town tour walking through the narrow streets of the old town where we saw the town theatre, another church and amazing views of the river.
And now we are in Borghetto one of the most beautiful medieval villages of Italy in the Veneto.
