Dordogne – La Roque-Gageac (En)
Last Wednesday we went to another area in the Dordogne, to the camping La Plage where our friends from Scotland and our friends from Holland were already there. The camping La Plage is located in the river next to the town called La Roque-Gageac, a beautiful medieval town, 5 minutes walking from the camping. You can canoeing and fishing on the river and also you can take a boat to travel the river and see chateaus and different interesting views. The camping facilities are great, showers, toilets etc very clean and without bugs. The camping has a bar, swimming pool and ping pong tables. So we can play ping pong! The only thing is that there is no toilet paper so you have to bring your own toilet paper (it looks like the campings in France do not provide toilet paper), the rest is great!
We arrived at the camping and took a place looking at the river and next to the gate to go out to the river and the town, and then we realized that we were in front of our Holland friends, Mariana and Cor. John and Susi, our Scottish friends were no next to us but they found us without a problem.
Yesterday Thursday we went to see the town La Roque-Gageac with Mariana and Cor, we went walking following the river, then you cross the road and you walk next to the mountain already in the town until you arrive at the main street where all the shops, bar and restaurants are. On the side of the mountain, there are stone houses and a chateau. The main street is next to the river and there you can rent canoes or take a boat. We will take the boat one day.
As here the people eat really early as the restaurants close around 2 pm, and all is very expensive, we decided to eat in a pizza place looking at the mountain and the river around 1.30 pm. Ben and I share a vegetarian pizza and Mariana and Cor a Hawaiian pizza. After lunch, we did our way back via the mountain and the river to the camping.
And today Friday, we are going to try to go to the Marqueyssac gardens where you can walk to a lookout on the top of the mountain. And tonight John and Susi are inviting us for dinner with some American friends. All this is in the next blog!
