Medes Island and Gola Lagoon (En)

We decided to go to the Medes Islands in a small boat which passes through caves and has glass to see the seafloor. The other boat was big and you have to go with many people and seat under the boat to see the seafloor, so we decided to do it in the small boat as it looks so much fun. We called to book the tour and they told us the best day to do it will be Sunday as it depends on the sea conditions. They told us that they will call us if we couldn’t do it that day. They did not call us so we went to the harbour and when we arrived they told us that we couldn’t do all the tour due to the wind. We only could go to the islands but not to the caves or towards the north. As they told us maybe Monday was worse we decided to do the islands, they gave us back half of the money we paid. The tour was really fun as the boat was like a roller coaster and the islands are beautiful!

The pictures don’t do justice to seeing it and experiencing it in person, the boat went really near to the islands and cliffs and the ride was very fun and beautiful. The islands are a natural park and they are protected so you cannot go inside or fish near them. When we went back to the harbour we went to see the faraway side of the harbour and then we went for lunch in a restaurant in front of a very cool beach. We had clams and tomato bread as a starter and then chicken curry and langoustines twisters. The clams were very yummy! And all for 32 euros including wine and beer.

On Monday we went to see the Gola, a lagoon which arrives at the sea with amazing views of the Medes Islands. The girl in the camping reception told us that we could go walking, only 1.5 kilometres. She must be high or something because after walking 3.5 kilometres we saw a sign telling us that we still has one kilometre more to go. So we walked 4.5 kilometres and then back again! The place is really beautiful and you passed through farms and horse riding schools. The lagoon forms 2 beaches, as the sand separates the lagoon from the sea. We finished exhausted when we arrived back so we went to an Italian restaurant for lunch very big and yummy pizzas!

We suppose to leave tomorrow towards Ampurias as my cousin from Galicia has recommended visiting it but today the wind is crazy and they say tomorrow will be worse around 50km/h. So I don’t think we can leave tomorrow. The problem is that the weather says strong winds and alert for the next few days in the area. The idea is to go from here to Ampurias and then to Cadaques to see Dali’s house. When we leave depends on the wind so will keep you post!
