Valencia – Mascleta (En)

Finally last Wednesday we went to Valencia by train. We arrived around 12 pm and just go out of the station there are amazing buildings. The own train station is spectacular, and all the way to the Town Hall square is amazing. Really beautiful. We arrived at the Town Hall square and we went around before people arrive to see the mascleta. The post office building is also amazing and they were putting up the town hall falla (effigies), it is the biggest falla, 22 metres. The fallas is the festival of Valencia, they put up 600 effigies, vote for the best ones and they burn them at night.

There were places selling beers for 1 euro and sangria, so we bought beers for Ben and sangria for me and we sat on the floor to wait for the mascleta which starts at 2 pm o’clock. Around 1 pm the square was already full of people. The mascleta is a show of fireworks and pirotecnis. It’s incredible to watch. We took a video so we can have it in full.

After we saw the mascleta we went for lunch some tapas as we arranged with my cousin Mila, then we told her where we were and she joined us. The first time I met my cousins! Mila and Manolo. Manolo came also to meet us there. I recognised my cousin even when she was wearing the mask. She also recognised me.

When my cousin Manolo arrived they took us to see the old town, the cathedral, the archbishop’s house, the market, amazing churches I thought were the cathedral because they were massive but my cousins all the time told me this is not the cathedral we will let you know… hahaha

And after tourism, we went for beers and I had a mojito, and soon it was 7 pm.

We had to go because Asha was inside the motorhome since 11 am but we planned more adventures, so we will come back next Wednesday to Valencia to see the effigies and parades and we will meet again my cousins to eat the famous Valencia paella.
