Camping Municipal Mâcon

We have stayed at Mâcon's municipal campsite twice. In July 2026 we stayed eight days because of the heat: staying a week or more costs just 18 euros a day, including electricity and the tourist tax (in August 2023 we paid 27.10 a day – a little expensive, but it was high season). It's a large campsite with big, shaded pitches, opposite a Lidl and several restaurants, with a big shopping centre a little further on.

There are several facilities blocks with toilets, showers, a laundry (5 euros), a chemical toilet disposal point and a washing-up area with hot water. The toilets have no paper or seats – common in France – and the showers have push-buttons flush with the wall; we recommend the disabled shower, a private cubicle with an easier button. There are drinking-water taps all over the site, and the service point for filling and emptying is near the exit.

There's a pool that's perfect for cooling off (though only 1.20 metres deep), ping-pong tables, a table-football table and a restaurant. The city centre is five minutes by scooter or 15 by bike – or a 15-minute walk along the Saône. We recommend it as a base for visiting the city.
