Our review

This is now the municipal campsite: quite basic but nice, with everything you need. The staff are very friendly and helpful; they also run the campsite restaurant, which serves typical Spanish home cooking, with a daily set menu or combination plates at very affordable prices. You can buy bread at reception every day.

The pitches are huge and level, with drinking water next to them, and you can choose sun or shade under the trees. Access to the pitches is easy, although the road up to the campsite is a little steep. The toilets have seats and paper. The showers in the women's block were really good, with good pressure and hot water, but in the men's block the hot water ran out. There are two dishwashing areas – only the sinks outside the men's block have hot water – and a laundry.

The swimming pool is the municipal pool, free for campsite guests, but it closes in September, so it was shut when we were there. The campsite is next to the Jerte river: you can walk to the old town along a lovely riverside path and over a footbridge in about 40 minutes, or cycle there along the cycle path in 15. We'd recommend it for seeing this beautiful city.

Top tips

Use the sinks outside the men's block – they're the only ones with hot water.

Good to know

The pool is the municipal pool: free for campsite guests, paid for others. It closes in September.

Things nearby

Horses outside the site, and a walking and cycle path along the river to the town centre – 40 minutes' walk to the old town.

About the location

By bike, along the cycle path, you're in the old town in 15 minutes. We walked along the river path and over a footbridge into town, where there are supermarkets, bars, shops, an outdoor market and the beautiful old town.
