Our review

A great location for the town, the beach and the ferry to the UK, 15 minutes' drive away – and the facilities are good and easy to use. The Camping-Car Park area is right next to the campsite and huge, with spacious pitches, and it costs 17.50 euros a day, electricity included. As with all these sites, you pay at the machine for the length of your stay.

There are two service points before the entrance barrier, each with water, a chemical toilet point and a drain for grey water. The best pitches are near an electric hook-up, so you don't need a long cable. It's very busy with people catching the ferry, so book ahead. The free Wi-Fi is OK – the password is your Camping-Car Park card number.

The beach and the promenade, with shops and restaurants, are an 8 to 10-minute walk away, and there's a free shuttle bus from the gate to the town centre. You can hire bikes at the entrance, and there's a shop at the campsite next door.
