England – Cornwall – Bude (En)

Bude is a coastal town in north Cornwall known for its romantic retreats, surfing, rock climbing, and being a paradise for nature lovers.

Where to stay

We stayed at Bude Holiday Resort, a static caravan park where Ben’s mother has one to rent, gorgeous, with a terrace to relax on. The complex has a heated outdoor pool and a restaurant where they do concerts, bingo, etc. You can walk to Bude town and the beach in 20 minutes or drive and park there.

What to see

We started our visit at Summerleaze Beach, the main Bude’s beach with stunning views and a seawater pool.

Then we saw the Port of Bude with its lock, houses and boats on the seashore.

Nestled in the dunes overlooking Summerleaze Beach and next to the canal is Bude Castle, named after it when it was built in 1830. Its elegant, unaltered Victorian façade houses the Heritage Centre, with halls and exhibitions from the Victorian era. It’s free and you can go and see the exhibits with your dog. So we toured the history-filled halls of Bude.

When you exit the castle you find the Methodist Church and crossing the canal you are in the centre of the town with its shops, bars and restaurants. We decided to have lunch at the beach restaurant where we ate the typical fish and chips, which was delicious!

Our next visit will be to Tintagel, a town famous for the legend of King Arthur and the ruins of a 13th-century castle, which you can see in the next blog!

Hello Isabel! I’m glad to hear from you. I love Cornwall and the food here, like crab and lobster. Ben loves Cornish pasty. We are sightseeing in the area and we love it! I hope to see you again somewhere soon. We’re staying in the UK until after Christmas and then going Tropical Camping for a while.

      Hi Cristina & Ben,

Lovely place you were. We were 2 days in Calatayud. Very nice, but old and need some up dating.
The route to and from it was gorgeous. Very green (fields and trees) and other parts very desert like.
We loved the mountens all around and visited Belchite. It gave me the chills…

Now Cor is working on the caravan, isolating the floor and installing a mover. Yeahh!!

Enjoy the rest of your time overthere! See you…

      Love, Cor and Marian
