Germany – Black Forest – Offenburg (En)

Offenburg, a charming German city in the Baden-Württemberg region, has many tourist places worth visiting and offers a wide range of cultural activities and events.

Where to stay

As I said in the previous blog, we stayed in the Oberkirch motorhome area (48.528702, 8.0736 lat, long) where you can catch the free train to the centre of Offenburg. Please see the previous blog for details.

What to see

We went to Offenburg Ben, myself and Asha with Ralf, Gaby and their dogs on the train. You get off right in the center and the first thing you see is the impressive church. Then walking along the main street you reach the town hall square, which is pretty amazing.

Then we passed through a lovely park and Ralf and Gaby took us to the old prison that has now been converted into a bar and restaurant called Liberty, where you can see the old cell doors below. The bar is very cool inside, and we had a few drinks on the terrace.

The next thing we saw was the iconic Market Square with its charming half-timbered houses where we also had a few drinks before taking the train back to Oberkirch.

Our next destination is Durbach, the last one in the Black Forest, known for its Riesling wine, which you can see in the next post!
