Germany – Black Forest – Oberkirch (En)
Located in the middle of a sunny landscape of orchards and vineyards, the wine-growing town of Oberkirch is the gateway to the Rench Valley on the Baden Wine Route. The old town, with its picturesque half-timbered houses, cosy cafes and shops, invites you to explore.
Where to stay
We stayed in the town’s motorhome area (48.528702, 8.0736 lat, long), which costs 10 euros a day. Black and grey water can be emptied for free, and you pay 1 euro for 80 litres of water, and one euro kWh for electricity. With the parking ticket, the tourist office gives you a card to enter places and take the train for free. The area is a 5-minute walk from the centre of town. We recommended to visit this village and the city of Offenburg on the free train.
What to see
We walked to the tourist office, which was very cool inside, and where they gave us the card for free transportation. From there we wandered through the streets with their picturesque houses, some dating back to 1707, seeing sculptures, until we reached the main street where the town hall is located, with a statue of the devil in front.
Passing through a passage you reach the Church of Saint Cyriak, which we were able to visit inside.
We finished our visit having a Guinness beer in a pup in town.
And the next day we took the free train to Offenburg city, which has a style baroque historic centre with an elaborate landscape, which you can see in the next post!
