Portugal – Algarve – Sagres (En)

On Friday, October 28 we arrived in Sagres. We went to the Intermarche supermarket to stay, which like Lidl has an area for motorhomes, but when we arrived all the places were full and small for our 8-meter motorhome and they told us that we could not park over there. So we went to the parking lot in the town centre which has fantastic coastal views. You cannot spend the night there so we decided to see Sagres and moved to Albufeira town later.

Sagres is a place where people come to challenge nature, surfing or hiking along the cliffs. Among the places of interest to see in Sagres are the Fortress, the Lighthouse, Tone Beach and the Cape of San Vicente. Since we were parked in front of the Tone beach we went from there walking to the Fortress and the Lighthouse.

After seeing the Fortress we walked along the cliffs to take photos of the Cape of San Vicente and the beach on the other side where there were more surfers.

We walked back to the centre of the town to go to the Dromedary bar, where the owner, Andreas, is a friend of my friend Cato. It is a surf bar and behind it, there is a huge brewery restaurant which belongs to Andreas also, where you can eat really well. We met Andreas and had a few drinks with him. It was a shame not to be able to sleep in Sagres and see Andreas again later that night.

We loved meeting Andreas and spending time with him, a pity that we couldn’t stay in Sagres and return at night. If you go to Sagres stop at the Dromedary bar since Andreas and his employees are very nice and friendly.

In the evening we went to Albufeira and we stayed in Lidl which has motorhome areas very big and it is free. In the next post you can see Albufeira town with its beautiful beaches, the cobbled streets of its old town and the frenetic but at the same time calm atmosphere that it has. One of the Algarve towns that Ben and I liked the most.
