Spain – Galicia – Lugo – Foz (En)
We went to Atalia Camper Park recommended by José & Chelo. It is a very cool place, with a chill-out area, toilets and showers really clean and nice, and the owner Moncho and his son are very helpful, friendly and nice. The camping has an agreement with the local supermarket to bring the shopping to your plot in the camping and also with one of the restaurants to bring the food to your plot. The camping is 15 euros per night with electricity included. We really recommend it. It is located outside the town, 20 minutes walking to the harbour but you can go down to the beach before via a path next to the camping.
Foz is a town in the Galician province of Lugo. It has been historically linked to the arrival of Briton immigrants during the Dark Ages (5th and 6th centuries) fleeing by sea from the British Isles. It has 9800 inhabitants. Although Foz was previously a fishing village, most of its economic resources now come from tourism with meat and seafood restaurants and many typical granaries. We went to visit the town yesterday Thursday, 25 minutes walking to the marina.
We decided to have lunch in one of the many restaurants in the marina. We had the menu of the day for 14 euros including a jug of Ribeiro white wine, delicious! We shared vinaigrette mussels and seafood paella as starters. One of the best seafood paellas I have tried as it was totally full of clams, mussels, prawns and calamari, totally full! And for the second we shared the churrasco which is barbecued meat on the grill, with ribs, pork steak and chorizo, we couldn’t finish it so we took it back to eat it today. When we finished our first course started to rain pretty heavily and we were just under a sun umbrella, it was pretty funny to see everybody trying to don’t finish totally wet, but we did finish totally wet. It was just one cloud and after that, the sun came out again and we dry on the way back to the camping.
Today Friday has been raining until now, so I took the opportunity to update the blog. Tomorrow is sunny and 24 degrees so we will go to the beach and on Sunday we are going to Viveiro, another town in Lugo, Galicia.
