Spain – Asturias – Lastres (En)
We went to Lastres, a small fishing village known for the TV series Doctor Mateo in 2008. We stayed in a motorhome area without services but free and located at the beginning of the town, so perfect for visiting the village. Its steep streets are lined with exciting houses emblazoned with palaces of the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, churches, fountains and chapels of a popular character. The most important sites are the Chapel of San Roque which has a small Baroque altarpiece of 1619 and the Church of Santa María de Sábada (eighteen century). We parked and went to see the village.
From the old town, we went to the harbour and beach. The way down is very steep and from the harbour the views of the village are stunning. The beach is really small, only 3 metres but the water is clear and clean. In Ribadesella, our neighbour in the camping recommended us the restaurant La Rula in the harbour so we went there to have lunch. We shared seafood croquet (really yummy), scallops and a cheese plater that Ben thought was one of the best cheese platters he has eaten in a long time.
After lunch, we went uphill to see the rest of the town and we discovered that it was the town festival!
Our parking was near to the church where the festivities were held and the music and bands keep going until 7 am so we did not sleep anything! The next morning really early we left and went to Gijon.
