Our review

A free site right at the entrance to the village, next to the Monastery of San Zoilo, the medieval bridge and a lovely park along the Carrión river. It's a good base for visiting the town, with its old stone buildings and medieval monuments – it's on the Camino de Santiago, so you see lots of pilgrims.

It could be a lot better, though. When we stayed, the water point wasn't working (it looked as if it had been broken all year) and the chemical toilet point was blocked; there's a drinking fountain in a park nearby. The area is small, with only five motorhome spaces, and cars park in them too – so arrive in the morning. If it's full, there's a large dirt car park right next to it.

Access is easy and all the pitches are level; park at the back, as cars sometimes use the first spaces. A five-minute walk through the park and over a bridge takes you to the Plaza de Santa María, with the town hall, bars and restaurants, past a supermarket on the way.
