Our review

A paid motorhome area that's the best place to stay for visiting Pisa – you can walk to the tower – and good for the price, though it's simply a car park, fine for the city but nothing more. The facilities work well, and the staff are very helpful; they only speak Italian, but you can communicate. They'll give you a map of the sights and explain how to get to them.

It costs 15 euros a day without electricity; electricity is paid by the hour with coins and works really well – we paid 2 euros for 10 hours. Filling the tank and emptying grey water are only possible during reception hours (9am–12pm and 4–7pm), so there's often a queue; drinking water and the chemical toilet point are available any time. There's no shade, so it gets quite hot, and you'll need ramps.

The Square of Miracles, with the tower, the cathedral and the baptistery, is a 20 to 30-minute walk, a Lidl is 5 minutes away, and there are cheap places to eat around the site and in the town. If nobody's there when you arrive, lift the barrier by hand and park; you pay at the machine on your way out.

Top tips

Fill and empty early in reception hours – there's often a queue.

Good to know

Filling and emptying grey water are only possible in reception hours. There's no shade.
