Germany – Bad Kreuznach (En)
Bad Kreuznach is a city in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is a spa town, best known for its medieval bridge dating from around 1300, one of the few remaining bridges in the world with buildings.
Where to stay
We stayed at the brewery’s RV park (49.827999, 7.85 lat, long) next to Nahe River. 21 euros per day with electricity included. There are toilets with paper and clean and showers for 1 euro for 6 minutes, I took a shower and had more than enough with 1 euro but Ben ran out of water, maybe my shower had money left. Emptying grey and black water is easy and free, but the chemical toilet must be emptied in the morning before 10 am or after 8 pm. For 50 cents you get 100 liters of drinking water. There was also an area to leave and take books, but they were all in German. We stayed three days and had a great time, enjoying the beer garden and watching the football games.
What to see
Along the Nahe River, we discovered a beautifully landscaped park, where we found a fountain, rose bushes, statues and a small building shaped like a castle. On the banks of the river, there are many ducks and Nile geese, which we have never seen before.
The parts of the city, which still exist today, were established on both sides of the Nahe River during the
Middle Ages. Since 1300 a stone bridge has connected both parts of the city.
We enjoyed the brewery where we could see the external buildings for making beer, as well as enjoy the European football championship matches.
Our next stop was Koblenz but when we arrived at the motorhome parking outside the Knaus campsite (50.365799, 7.60409 lat, long) which only had 10 spaces, it was full, with even a motorhome waiting. We took a walk through the area which is in the famous German Corner, where the Rhine and the Moselle meet and where we could see the equestrian statue of Emperor William I and we had a view of the Stonzenfels Castle.
As we could not stay in Koblenz we continued on our way to Andernach, which due to its history of more than 2,000 years, has many impressive places such as the 56 m high round tower, the natural geyser and the Mary Cathedral, which you can see in the next post!
