Greece – Igoumenitsa (En)

Igoumenitsa is a coastal city in northwestern Greece. It is the capital of the regional unit of Thesprotia. Igoumenitsa is the chief port of Thesprotia and Epirus, and one of the largest passenger ports of Greece, connecting northwestern Mainland Greece with the Ionian Islands and Italy.

The first thing we did when we arrived in the city was go to the shops selling mobile air conditioning units. In one shop they told us that they will have their delivery the next day, so we bought one and the shop told us they can deliver to Camping Deprano which is in the city and near the shop. So we went to stay in Camping Deprano (39.5098, 20.221399 lat, long), which is located on a sandy beach. The camping has a mini market, a tavern and a beach bar. The facilities are modern and clean, it has also outside showers and a kitchen with fridges and freezers. Good area for emptying and filling black and grey water. They told us 31 euros including electricity but we will pay less because, on our second day, it was no water! It is no water in the city, now 3 days without water.

The aircon did not arrive because it was a fire in Athens and the truck couldn’t come, and then it was the weekend, so today Monday we are still waiting. So we pass the time swimming on the beach, enjoying the sunbeds and having lunch in the tavern, where we shared a potato salad which was yummy and our sardines!

There is not much to see in the city because is just a city of transfer to take the ferry. It has an archaeological museum, some sculptures and a long promenade line with taverns. So we went on our motorbike to see the sculptures and the promenade.

Today is Monday and we still waiting for the aircon hoping that it will arrive today but the shop close at 2 pm. Tomorrow night we will take the ferry to Bari, Italy, so we still have tomorrow day for the aircon to arrive. And in the next post, you can see Bari!
