Croatia – Omisalj (En)

Crossing through Slovenia and Herzegovina we arrived in Croatia. We filled the petrol in Slovenia because it was really cheap 1.4 and when we were in Herzegovina it was even cheaper 1.3. A curious thing in Slovenia is that all the restaurants have barbecues outside and they cook in them.

Croacia starts at the entrance of a long bridge and when you cross it you are in Omisalj a coastal municipality northwest of the island of Krk en Croacia. It is located close to one of the oldest settlements on Krk, dating from the 1st century when it was built by the Romans and named Fulfinum.

We stayed at Camping Omisalj (45.2333969, 14.553061 lat, long), 5 stars which is expensive if you don’t have an Acsi card, with Acsi we paid 23 euros per day plus tourist tax. The camping has absolutely everything you need and more. The showers are the best we have had in a year and the plots are huge! the camping has its own beach where you can swim although is a pebble beach. There is also a dog beach which Asha loves it.

It has a restaurant with a swimming pool and a massive terrace. Some children were swimming but for us, the pool and the sea were still cold. There is also a supermarket with all you need but expensive.

We enjoyed the minigolf also in the camping and we bathed Asha in the dog bath.

And finally, we visited the farm which is inside the camping grounds and where you can see baby pigs, calves of 3 weeks, goats and a pony of only 3 days, rabbits, etc. The farm guard dog does not let any animal pass from a line so Asha had to stay outside the line, the dog does this because there are foxes and wild pigs in the area.

We stayed here for 5 days to rest, and wash clothes, Ben worked and I updated the blog. Tomorrow we are going to see some of the towns on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, which you can see in the next post.
