Loire Valley – Gennes & Les Rosiers sur Loire (En)
Last Saturday we had to leave Saumur because the camping was all booked due to a marathon on Sunday. So we went a little further down in the Loire Valley to camping called “au bord de loire” located in Gennes and in front of another town called Les Rosiers sur Loire. The facilities of the camping were so so, the showers only had hot water and no toilet paper or seats in the toilets, but the worse thing was that the swimming pool was not open and it was more than 30 degrees! The camping has charming cabins where the people could sleep on the top.
The town of Gennes is tiny, just one coffee and one bar/restaurant, a big supermarket and petrol station and one church and one school. It was an abbey on the top of the town, but we did not go up because it was too hot, more than 30 degrees.
On Monday we crossed the bridge and went to Les Rosiers town. This town was a little bigger, with a square, church, town hall and more shops. Outside the town hall, it was a statue commemorating the deads of the two world wars.
We decided to leave on Tuesday as we saw all you can see here and it was too hot without a swimming pool or cold showers. So on Tuesday, we went to a beach town called Wimereux, in the north of France and near Calais and next to Boulogne which has one of the biggest maritime ports in France. All this is in the following posts!
