Our review

We stayed in the motorhome parking at Camping Goldene Meile, which costs 15 euros a day – much cheaper than the campsite, at more than double. You can pay at the campsite reception from 9am to 1pm, or in coins at the car park. The area is grassy, with stones to park on, on the bank of the Rhine next to the Peace Museum, about a 10-minute walk along the river to the town centre.

Electricity is 1 euro for 6 hours and 90 litres of water 1 euro; emptying grey and black water is free, and you can leave your rubbish next to the campsite reception. There's also a huge outdoor pool with slides, which costs 3 euros if you go before 11am or after 5pm – and you can shower there. There's a Lidl about 10 minutes' walk away.

Top tips

Use the pool before 11am or after 5pm – 3 euros, with a shower.
