Spain – Málaga – San Pedro de Alcántara (En)

San Pedro is located between Marbella and Estepona, 5 minutes from Puerto Banus and 10 minutes from Marbella centre. Although it is part of Marbella’s city, San Pedro de Alcántara can be defined as a separate town. A destination away from luxuries in which tranquillity is the proper guide of its people.

We begin our tour in the old town where the Church and Town Hall square is located. The church dated from the year 1869 and was ordered to be built by the Marquis del Duero. In front there is a fountain and around several cafes and bars and on one side is the Town Hall. The square is beautiful!

From the church square, we went through the streets of the old town, full of bars and restaurants and with a lot of atmospheres until we reached the recently built San Pedro Avenue. The water, the aromatic plants and the Mediterranean vegetation species are the protagonists of this Avenue, where there is Wi-Fi throughout the area.

From here we went to the Promenade, a 12 Km long promenade that runs along the beach from San Pedro to Puerto Banús and beyond, to the centre of Marbella and the fishing port. It is actually part of the famous Senda Litoral de Málaga, a unique 163 km route that winds along the entire coast of the province of Málaga. The palm tree-line Boardwalk has flea market stalls and beach kiosks, bars, outdoor sports equipment, shady wooden desks for picnics, free parking and, of course, San Pedro’s blue flag award-winning beaches which there are never saturated with people.

There are also some seafood and fish beach bars and we walked through the promenade until we found a very cool beach bar in front of the sea with an English singer enlivening the evening and we decided to have lunch there. We shared soupy seafood rice which is like paella but with a broth and is made in a pot. It was delicious!

And we end our day chatting with our neighbours at the next table and taking another walk on the beautiful beach and promenade. So if you are in the area, do not hesitate to visit San Pedro!

Hi both – we said we’d let you know what Morocco is like for motorhomes. Good news is that it’s great! Lots of travellers and plenty of campsites/park ups etc. We’re currently on one overlooking the sea for the equivalent of €3 per night.

Hi guys, sounds great, where are you exactly? Then no problem finding camping, good to know. We will check your instagram. We are still in Camping Tropical, still seeing family and friends

We were in Sidi Kaouki when Tony sent the message (between Essaouira and Agadir) – we’ve now moved south to a lovely campsite in the Sousa Massa National Park. Fabulous country, chaotic driving, terrific food and lovely people – and cheap. Plus – have managed to stock up on Moroccan wine at 4€ a bottle!

It looks great, where have you found the Maroccan wine? Is very difficult to drive with a motorhome?

Alcohol available at Carrefour’s – plenty of wine at 4euros, beer relatively expensive, eg 7euros for 6 small generic bottles. Booze also available in some restaurants and hotels where there are European visitors, but expensive. In large cities, eg Ribat there are alcohol specific shops but few and far between.
Roads are generally good and outside towns and cities, little traffic. Motorways are virtually empty and tolls cheap, ie 7euros per 100kms. In town it’s chaotic and it’s every man (or donkey)for himself.
Lots of motorhomes large (9ms plus) and small in popular spots. Last week we saw a convoy of 22 le voyageur motorhomes! Lots of money been spent in roads and better than many EU countries, eg Portugal, Italy.

Hey, we are leaving on the 14th March, I suppose you still in Marrocco? We will go now through the middle of Spain then the riviera, Italy, until we arrive to Croatia, then down to Greece. We will be in UK in August.
