Wales – Snowdonia National Park (En)

Snowdonia National Park has nine mountain ranges covering approximately 52% of the Park and includes many peaks over 3,000 feet (915m). It is a varied landscape of steep river gorges, waterfalls and green valleys. Oak, ash, oar and hazel woodlands are scattered throughout the Park, and there are also estuaries and stone monuments such as ancient abbeys and even medieval castles.

Where to stay

We stayed in the car park at the start of the Mawddach Trail (52.746763, -3.906004 lat, long). It has no facilities but is perfectly large for motorhomes and free! We arrived early in the morning, and several cars were parked there, with people walking on the paths or their dogs. In the afternoon, we were left alone and had a very good night, as it is level.

What to see

From there you can take several walks, along the Mawddach Trail or go to the nearby medieval village of Dolgelau. We went with Asha to walk the Mawddach Trail where you see valleys full of sheep, rivers, small waterfalls and forests with impressively coloured leaves!

The next day, we went to Cymer Abbey, a ruined Cistercian abbey founded in 1198. You can see it in the next post!
