HOLLAND – Budel (En)
Budel is a small town in the Netherlands famous for its two windmills, the Nooit Gedatch and the Zeldenrust from 1869 as well as its historic buildings.
Where to stay
We stayed in a motorhome area in the village (51.262299, 5.59028 lat, long) with everything. For 15 euros you get electricity, water filling and emptying, barbecue and dishwashing area and bathrooms with spotless and large showers! It has a good space to open the porch and put the chairs and table outside. It is 15 minutes walk from the centre, all flat, or 5 minutes by bike or motorbike. I recommend it, we stayed for several days and it was great.
What to see
We went walking with Asha and the first thing you come across is the Nooit Gedatch windmill, very cool with a tiny windmill next to it.
You continue straight and on the right you will find the second mill, the Zeldenrust, which dates back to 1869, where you can buy products made in the mill itself.
We arrived at the town centre and there was a street market where they sold everything from cheese to clothes and where the Schepenhuis building is located, which dates back to 1616.
We ended our visit at the Catholic Church of Budel, which we were able to see inside.
We ended our visit to Holland as we were very close to the Belgian border and went there where our first stop was in Turnhout, located in the Flemish province of Antwerp, known for its 14th-century Beguinage, which was designated a UNESCO world heritage site and the Castle of the Dukes of Brabant, which you can see in the next blog!
