Spain – Catalonia – Barcelona – San Vicent de Castellet (En)

We arrived to San Vicent de Castellet a Catalan municipality in the province of Barcelona very close to the Montserrat Mountain. In it we can also see the Llobregat river that descends from the Catalan Pyrenees. We stayed in the motorhome area of the town (41.663139,-1.861455 lat, long) with services for emptying and filling black and grey water and electricity free! It is just 5 minutes walking from shops, restaurants etc and you can see the Montserrat mountain from the area. Next to the area is a children’s park and a dog area where Asha went to play! Thanks again to the towns that provide a motorhome areas so we can visit their towns.

Before visiting the town we went to have lunch and we found a place with a menu for the day for 13 euros including the first and second course, bread, drinks and dessert. The waitress was really friendly and she translated the Catalan menu into Spanish for us. I had for the starter a salad of tomato, tuna and onion and Ben a cheese salad. And for second Ben had the beef Osobuco for the first time and he liked it a lot. I had the Iberian secret, really tasty. A peculiar thing is that it was a bell to call the waitress when you want something, a really good idea!

After lunch, we went to see the town. San Vicent de Castellet is considered a municipality with a thousand years of history according to registered documents. It was founded in 1001 AD. It also has the peculiarity that there are many dry stone buildings, with houses that seem to be taken from fairytales. The shops are also peculiar, in the pharmacy, there was a mannequin with needles stuck in it and viruses hanging!

Tomorrow we are going to Gerona, capital of the homonymous province and the Girones region in Catalonia. it is a historical city of Roman origin, more than 2000 years old. And you can see it in the next post.
