Where to stay
We stayed at the Municipal Camping (45.577301, -0.554513 lat, long) 5 minutes walking to the town centre and next to a supermarket Aldi. The couple managing the camping are really friendly and helpful, they help us to repair our motorbike! The facilities are clean with good pressure and hot water in the showers and hot water for washing dishes. The washing machine is huge, we use it and wash all the things, for 4 euros. There is also a restaurant which is open for dinner on weekends, they do barbecue, and a ping pong table which we also use. We really recommend it if you coming this way, also is near to the highway to Spain.
What to see
We went walking to the town with Asha through a beautiful path next to a stream. Going up to the centre you will find the Protestant Church and then you will see the Medieval Keep of Pons. Pons sits on a rock and is grouped around its 12th-century keep. The imposing monument can be admired from afar, it is 30 meters high and has 136 steps. It is the heart of the town, and there is a square with restaurants and a fountain in front of the tower.
It turns out that there was a marathon of up to 55 km, and the tower square was full of stalls with drinks and food, when we arrived the runners were arriving. Next to the tower is the mansion, and you can walk through its gardens and see the impressive staircase, with views of the Seugne Valley and the impressive medieval alleys. In the gardens, a group of very nice French people wanted to invite us to have a few drinks, which we politely declined so we could see the rest of the town.
We walked through the medieval streets until we reached the Church of San Martin and its incredible cemetery, and we finished our tour in the market.
