Playa de Aro (Girona) – Part I (En)
Last Thursday we decided to go free camping. We saw a place for free motorhomes camping in a beach town called Playa de Aro where you can empty and fill the water and also empty the toilet. The comments about the place were really bad, such as: “Don’t stop, it is a ghetto with people living there permanently and furniture and rubbish everywhere!” Others said that you can like it or not but the place is in an amazing location and thanks to the town hall to provide it, etc. In the end, of curiosity, we decided to go and check it. When we arrived the place was really good, no rubbish or furniture and the motorhomes were parked neatly. Yes, some people were staying there permanently but it was safe and nice. So we stayed and we recommend it if you want free camping!
Playa de Aro is a really cool town. You feel like you are on holiday in a Caribian beach town with all the bars and restaurants done with bamboo and surrounded by palm trees and vegetation, with music and cocktails. Also, you can find all the fashion shops in the world and super big and modern styles! The roundabouts are also cool with different statues in each one.
We stopped in one of the bars/restaurants for lunch and we ordered nachos as a starter. The plate was huge and we couldn’t eat anything more! I have to say the nachos were really nice and the lunch cost us only 8 euros for both!
After lunch, we went to do the Ronda walk. The Ronda walk is a walk of 100 kilometres between cliffs and little beaches and it is fantastic! Playa de Aro is located in the middle of the Ronda walk so we could go left or right. As we were near to the left start point we went left. We passed through tunnels in the clift and little coves and beaches. It is stunning!
After the walk, we went to a very cool bar with really good music to have some cocktails. I drank a sex on the beach cocktail, really delicious.
We went back to the motorhome and we hang up with our neighbours Elia and Lotte, Italian and Dutch, a really nice couple. And tomorrow we will go to the right! You can see it in the next post.
