Greece – Peloponnese – Stoupa (En)

Stoupa is a village on the coast of the southern Peloponnese peninsula in Greece. It is famous for its magnificent mountainous landscape and turquoise waters of incredibly deep colour. It seems that nature created it with only one purpose: to make our vacation unforgettable.

We stayed at Camping Kalogria (36.849602, 22.258301 lat, long) for 21 euros daily, with electricity included with the Acsi card. The facilities are rustic but ok with a big area for washing dishes. But the floor was full of a kind of blackberry falling from the trees and a lot of dust, and the wifi and 4G did not work, so not good for us as Ben had to work. The location is great just 4 minutes walking to the town and beach of Stoupa.

We went walking to see Stoupa and when we arrived our jaw dropped, it is beautiful! The beach is simply stunning, with crystal clear waters and soft sand that will make you feel like you are in paradise. It is a small sheltered beach with turquoise water and light colour sand, so special footwear is not needed here. The beach is surrounded by typical Greek taverns, shops and bars to drink cocktails.

After touring the town and me buying a very cool swimsuit, we went to have lunch in one of the taverns with impressive views of the beach and town. We decided to share a speciality of the tavern which was puff pastry filled with chicken, cheese, bacon and mushrooms, that came with rice and chips, which was delicious! and then we shared a moussaka. For dessert, they invited us to a pear tart and two shots. We drank beer and a carafe of rose wine and it all cost us 31 euros!

After lunch we went to have a drink, Ben had a beer and I had a mojito and then we went for a swim in the incredible sand and crystal water beach, where I wear for the first time my new swimsuit.

The next day we went to Kalamata, the second most populous city of the Peloponnese peninsula, after Patras and the capital and chief port of the Messenia regional unit, which you can see in the next post!
