Croatia – Krka National Park (En)

Krka National Park is situated along the Krka River in southern Croatia. It’s known for a series of 7 waterfalls. No matter what you say about this place, it is unbelievably stunning and beautiful! If you come to Croatia you have to see it, it is a must!

We stayed in Camping Vrata Krke (43.795598, 15.966246 lat, long) in the courtyard of the Vrata Krka Hotel, right at the entrance to Krka National Park. It is 25 euros per night including electricity, hot showers and a free washing machine! We could stay free as nobody was in the reception when we arrived but we felt bad as we used the showers and free washing machine so the next morning we left 25 euros in the hotel, maybe for the receptionist!

It is 15 euros per person to enter the park and they take you by bus where you can take your dog, so Asha came with us!

To see the Krka National Park El Parque Nacional de Krka you walk through it on a platform of wooden planks since you are going above the water, and there are waterfalls everywhere. The main phenomenon of this park is the travertine, a kind of limestone that settles the lime in the water with the help of microorganisms, algae and moss, forming beautiful landscapes of streams, waterfalls and waterfalls that form lakes. In the park, there is many varied animal and plant life, with endemic fish and more than 1022 plant species.

In the south, Skradinski Buk waterfall is flanked by traditional watermills. To the north, a nature trail passes another striking cascade, Roški Slap, and the Krka Monastery, built above ancient Roman catacombs. Visovac Island is home to the 15th-century Franciscan Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy.

We finished our tour of the Park seeing an exhibition of pictures, St Nicholas Church and several bars and restaurants with the best views of the park.

The next day we went to Trogir, a town on the central Adriatic coast of Croatia and until now the most beautiful coast town we have seen, which you can see it in the next post.
